Paine Field, officially Snohomish County Airport (FAA code: PAE), opened its commercial passenger terminal in 2019 and has quickly become a favorite among Pacific Northwest travelers who want to avoid the chaos of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac). If you are flying into Everett, here is everything you need to know.
Airlines and Routes
Alaska Airlines is the primary commercial carrier at Paine Field, operating nonstop routes to several West Coast destinations including:
- Portland (PDX)
- San Francisco (SFO)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Las Vegas (LAS)
- Phoenix (PHX)
- Anchorage (ANC)
Routes and schedules change seasonally. Check alaskaair.com for current flight options from your departure city.
What to Expect at the Terminal
Paine Field's commercial terminal is small and uncrowded, which is entirely the point. Security lines move quickly, the terminal is modern and comfortable, and baggage claim is about as fast as baggage claim gets.
Parking. A parking garage is connected directly to the terminal. Rates are competitive with SeaTac and the walk is far shorter. Short-term and long-term options available.
Ground transportation. Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) pick up at the terminal. Car rental is available through the standard agencies (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc.) in the terminal building. There is no train connection directly at Paine Field; the Everett Station Sounder stop is about 10 minutes away by car.
The Boeing connection. Paine Field shares its runway with the Boeing Everett plant. On a clear day, you may see 777 or 777X aircraft taxiing or departing on your approach or takeoff run. It is a genuinely cool thing to notice. If you are flying in for a Boeing assignment, see the executive's guide to Boeing Everett lodging for commute and workspace details. For the broader corridor, see the Everett aerospace corridor business travel guide.

- You want faster security, less crowded terminals, and easier parking
- You are visiting the Boeing Factory Tour specifically
Use SeaTac if:
- Your airline does not serve Paine Field
- You are heading directly into Seattle or south King County
- You need international connections

Arrive 60 to 75 minutes before your departure. The terminal is small and security is fast. You do not need to arrive two hours early the way you would at SeaTac.
Parking is straightforward. The garage is well-marked and close to the terminal. No shuttle required.
Cell phone lot. Available if you are picking someone up. The airport is small enough that you can usually time your arrival to the flight without circling.
