The Insider's Guide to Everett, Washington

Most people know Everett as "that Boeing city north of Seattle." And yes, the Boeing Factory Tour is incredible - we'll get to that. But Everett has quietly become one of the most interesting small cities in the Pacific Northwest.

A revitalized waterfront. A thriving arts scene. Minor league sports with major league atmosphere. Craft breweries and a speakeasy-style whiskey bar. World-class aviation history. And all of it with free parking, shorter lines, and Puget Sound views that compete with anywhere in the state. Here's what you need to know.

Staying at Timber & Tide puts you 5 minutes from the waterfront, 9 minutes from the Boeing Factory Tour, and 35 minutes from downtown Seattle - the ideal home base for exploring everything on this list.

    Aviation & History

The Boeing Everett Factory is the single biggest reason people visit Everett, and for good reason. It's the largest building in the world by volume, and the factory tour takes you inside to see 777 and 777X aircraft being assembled in real time. It's genuinely awe-inspiring even if you're not an aviation person. Book your tour in advance - they sell out weeks ahead.

The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum houses one of the finest collections of restored vintage military aircraft in the country, originally assembled by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The museum spans over 100,000 square feet and includes more than 25 aircraft and 30 vehicles. They even do flying demonstrations. Admission is incredibly affordable.

At the Future of Flight center (the starting point for Boeing tours), the Sky Deck offers panoramic runway views where you can watch planes take off and land. It's the kind of thing that's mesmerizing for 10 minutes and then somehow you've been there an hour.

    Arts & Culture

Everett takes its arts scene seriously, and it shows. The Schack Art Center is the heartbeat of it all - a modern facility with rotating galleries featuring over 200 local artists, plus a working hot shop where you can watch glassblowers create pieces in real time. You can even sign up for classes if you want to try your hand at it.

Downtown Everett is dotted with murals and street art, and the monthly Art Walk (second Fridays) brings the galleries, studios, and small venues to life. The Historic Everett Theatre has been entertaining audiences since the turn of the 20th century, hosting everything from live music to film festivals to comedy nights.

And then there's Funko. The headquarters and flagship store of the beloved Pop figure company is right here in Everett, guarded by giant Pop replicas of characters from Harry Potter, Frozen, Star Wars, and more. It's a pilgrimage for collectors and an absolute blast for kids.

    The Waterfront

The Port of Everett waterfront has been transformed in recent years. The marina district is lined with restaurants, shops, and walking paths along the water. You can stroll the boardwalk, watch the boats come in, and grab dinner overlooking the Puget Sound as the sun sets behind the Olympic Mountains. It's the kind of Pacific Northwest evening you came here for.

During Jetty Island Days (July 8 – Sept. 6, 2026), the Jetty Island ferry takes you to a two-mile stretch of sandy beach with warm, shallow water that's perfect for families. Reservations required — $3–$5/person (2 & under free). The ferry operates Wednesday through Sunday from Jetty Landing at 10th St & W. Marine View Dr. It feels like a secret — most visitors to Washington don't even know it exists.

    Food & Drink

Everett's food scene has grown up fast. Waterfront restaurants serve fresh Pacific Northwest seafood with views of the Sound. Downtown is home to a growing cluster of craft breweries and taprooms. And Muse Whiskey & Coffee might be the most interesting spot in town - it's a daytime coffee shop that transforms into a speakeasy-inspired whiskey bar at night. Lattes at 10 a.m., bourbon flights at 10 p.m., all in a beautifully restored historic waterfront building.

    Sports

Everett punches above its weight in sports. The Everett AquaSox, a Seattle Mariners minor league affiliate, play Single-A baseball from spring through autumn at a charming waterfront-adjacent stadium where tickets are affordable and the atmosphere is pure small-town Americana. The Everett Silvertips play minor league hockey from fall through spring at Angel of the Winds Arena. Both are the kind of live sports experiences where you're close to the action and the price is right. Check the events calendar for upcoming games.

    Parks & Nature

Everett has more than 40 parks, and several are worth seeking out. The Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens is a 3.5-acre gem with 10 themed gardens including a Japanese Maple Grove and a Rock Garden. Forest Park is a large wooded retreat right in the city. Legion Memorial Park sits on a bluff with sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains - it's one of the best sunset spots in the area. Explore more outdoor adventures in our local guide.

    Getting Around

Downtown Everett is walkable, and the waterfront is easy to explore on foot or by bike. If you're heading to Seattle, the Sounder commuter rail runs from Everett Station, and I-5 gets you downtown in about 30 minutes outside of rush hour. Free parking throughout Everett makes having a car stress-free. See our day trips guide for more on exploring the region.
