Everything About the Boeing Factory Tour in Everett

Book early, arrive at the Future of Flight 30 minutes before your tour time, and plan to spend at least 2.5 hours total.

The Boeing Everett Factory Tour is consistently ranked among the top tourist attractions in Washington State, and it earns the recognition. This is not a corporate museum or a sanitized PR exercise. It is a working production facility where real aircraft are being built, and you walk through it.

Here is everything you need to know before your visit.

What Is the Boeing Factory Tour?

The tour takes you inside the Boeing Everett plant, the largest building in the world by volume (98.3 million cubic feet). Inside, you will see 777 and 777X wide-body jets in various stages of final assembly, from bare fuselage sections being joined together to nearly-complete aircraft ready for paint and delivery.

The guided tour runs approximately 80 minutes. You board a bus from the Future of Flight Aviation Center, ride to the factory, and walk through elevated viewing galleries above the assembly floor. You will see the aircraft up close, hear about the assembly process, and leave with a real sense of the scale of what Boeing builds here.

Photos are not permitted inside the factory building. This is a firm policy. Everything inside the factory is considered proprietary. Take your mental pictures instead.

    How to Get Tickets

Tickets are available at futureofflight.org. The tour is not free, so expect to pay around $25 to $30 per adult. Children under a certain height are not permitted on the factory floor (check the current policy on the website, as it changes).

Book in advance. The factory tour sells out weeks ahead during summer and holidays. If you have a specific date in mind, book as soon as your travel plans are confirmed. Walk-up availability exists on some weekdays, but do not count on it.

Tours operate Thursday through Monday. The factory is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

What to Expect at the Future of Flight

The Future of Flight Aviation Center is the starting point for the tour and worth at least an hour on its own.

Gallery floor. Interactive exhibits about commercial aviation, aircraft design, and Boeing's history. Well-designed for all ages.

Sky Deck. A rooftop observation platform overlooking the south end of Paine Field's runway. You can watch commercial and charter aircraft take off and land from Paine Field, as well as Boeing test flights and delivery flights. On a clear day the views include the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, and Cascades. This alone is worth the trip.

Boeing Store. A well-stocked gift shop with aviation merchandise, clothing, scale models, and branded items. Budget accordingly.

Arrival time. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tour time to get your tickets, go through the ID check, and make it through the pre-tour briefing without rushing.

Age and height restrictions. Young children may be restricted from the factory tour itself based on height requirements. Check the current policy before booking if you're bringing young kids.

Photography. Permitted at the Future of Flight center and on the Sky Deck. Not permitted inside the factory.
